|
|
|
* Location: Multaeri, Cheongpung-myeon
* The water transportation system in Jecheon has
evolved around Namhangang ever since prehistoric
times. Its beautiful environment has helped culture
to flourish in the region. In 1317, the fourth year
of King Chungsuk's ruling during the Goryo Dynasty,
Jecheon was promoted to 'kun' (an administrative
district unit under city).Recognized as the hometown
of Empress Myeongsong's family, it was designated
as a dohobu (then a major administrative unit) in
1660, the first year of King Hyeonjong's ruling
during the Joseon Dynasty. Thus it is now rich in
cultural assets. Regrettably it lost a considerable
share of its cultural assets during the construction
of Cheungju Dam. After the incident cultural assets
scattered around this area were gathered into one
place, which is today's Cultural Asset Complex.
The complex houses 43 items including 'Hanbyeongnu',
two pieces of cultural treasures, old houses, government
buildings and public schools from the feudal age,
nine pieces of Tangible Cultural Properties and
thirty two other items.1,600 items used in the past
daily life are also displayed to let the audience
get a glimpse of what the everyday life was like
